TITLE - And Then Forever
AUTHOR - Shirley Jump
Love is an extravagance Darcy Williams can’t afford. She prefers the simple life, which includes waitressing at The Love Shack on Fortune’s Island and avoiding temptation. But when a forbidden part of her past steps off the ferry, her safe, guarded existence is turned upside down.
Kincaid Foster has never gotten over his first love. When he sees the wild, beautiful blonde again, dancing her way around The Love Shack, the memories of Darcy’s soft skin, gentle touch, and heated kisses come rushing back. As the privileged son of a wealthy family, Kincaid was too young to stand up to his overbearing father when he and Darcy were together. Now, he’s back on the island—free of the family shackles—and the chiseled, big-time lawyer wants a second chance.
But, Darcy made a promise to keep a secret from Kincaid—a secret that is now a six-year-old girl who looks just like her daddy. If Kincaid finds out about their daughter, Darcy could lose everything. But, she can’t resist the man who stole her heart all those years ago. And it doesn’t take long before both of them realize that anything can happen at The Love Shack on a hot summer night.
Growing up we all have that summer fling. That short time we spend with someone that we can always look back on and smile. That time in our lives where we were young, a little reckless, and happy. And Then Forever is a out two people seeing each other for the first time after that summer.
Darcy moved to Fortunes Island as soon as she was old enough. She didn't have it easy growing up. Darcy's mother resented her and she was basically on her own her whole life. So she moved to Fortunes Island, got a little place, a job, and made a life for herself. Darcy is one of those carefree, full of life kind of people. She's loud and loves to have a good time and make those around her laugh.
Which is what drew Kincaid towards her. Kincaid is from a prominent wealthy family. His whole life had been planned out for him. What schools to go to, what to major in, and who he could be friends with. But when he met Darcy it all went out the window.
They fell and they fell hard. Kincaid wanted to leave his pampered life and stay with Darcy, he wanted to marry her. Unfortunately like a lot of summer romances theirs came to an end. Seven years later Kincaid is back on the island for the first time.
Seeing each other again is like being hit with a truck. Kincaid has always compared women to Darcy, and no one's quite measured up. There's never been another one for Darcy. Darcy tries to keep her distance, but sometimes the pull is just too strong.
Will this be another summer fling or the real thing? Will mistakes and secrets of the past ruin the future, no one knows. Life's a gamble, the question is are Kincaid and Darcy willing to go all in?
Along with Kincaid and Darcy's drama what about Kincaid sister Abby, is she safe? Will her husband come looking for her or will he give her what she wants? What about Jillian? Will her fiancé finally act like he wants her or will they go their separate ways? I guess you'll just have to read this book and find out for yourself. It's still early in the summer and anything is possible.
Here are some parts of the book that stuck out to me:
‘Kincaid had noticed Darcy the second he walked in. It wasn’t so much seeing her, as sensing her.’
“People fall in love during the season, then they go back to reality in the fall.”
“When I first met you, I thought you were the loneliest rich kid I’d ever seen,” she said. “I’d met a lot of them, especially when I lived on the mainland, but you… you seemed like you had this hole in your heart, in your life. Maybe that’s why you came over to The Love Shack that night. To find something to fill that hole.”
