Blog Tour & Review - The Taste of her Words - Candace Knoebel

Title: The Taste of Her Words

Author: Candace Knoebel

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About The Taste of Her Words:

Andrea was my first taste of love.

She was there throughout my childhood and into adulthood. Her words were a secret I wasn’t supposed to know. Truths and pain bled onto papers that shredded my innocence and carved a hole in my heart only she could fill.

Her words were my first kiss. They were the uneven breaths I took when I saw her, and my hands between her thighs inside the dreams she haunted. She was my best friend’s older sister and, even though she didn’t know it yet, she was the pen that would ink our destiny into the stars.

Dean tempted me to cross a line I never thought I would.

It had been so long since someone looked at me the way he did. Five years since his starry gaze caressed my words and I ran from a kiss I couldn’t shake. He was everything I should stay away from, but how could I resist the beautifully broken man whose touch stoked a fire within my soul?

Dean was the missing words to my fairy tale. The parchment I could safely put my most intimate thoughts to. But when secrets from the past catch up with us, how could our perfectly plotted ending survive?

OUR REVIEW:

“Single mom falls for brothers best friend, 5 stars”

Oh, how I loved The Taste of Her Words. Knoebel had me falling into the story within the first couple of pages. Andy and Dean have history and odds stacked against them. To top things off Andy is at odds with the fact Dean is younger than her.

Love isn’t always an easy journey, something Dean learned a long time ago, but if he gets Andy at the end its all worth it. Knoebel will make you fall in love with the boy next door with alpha tendencies and a sweet demeanor.

Andy lives in the world of words. It doesn’t matter what she’s doing words always come to her. At one time, she planned on making a living with her words, now she’s working a dead-end job trying to support herself and her son. Andy has a crazy ex and feelings for a man she shouldn’t, or should she? What will happen when Andy accepts the man she’s supposed to be with?

Dean has loved Andy for as long as he can remember. He fell in love with her as a person and her words. Words are what brought the two together to begin with. Dean has been standing on the side waiting for her long enough, it’s time to go after what he’s always wanted. As an added bonus, he falls for Andy’s son. Will he get the life he always dreamed of or will Andy’s ex take it all away?

I felt like I was sucked into Dean and Andy’s world, it played like a movie in my mind. My pink book highlighter got a killer workout. I fell in love with not only Andy’s words but Dean’s as well. They were each other’s missing puzzle piece. The secondary characters were on point and I feel like typical for families which made the story more real.

Take a chance and one-click The Taste of Her Words, in the meantime here are a couple quotes from the story that I loved;

“She felt like home inside my hands.”

“We were an explosion of stars. Two comets set on a predestined path, finally colliding.”

“You’re a thousand beautifully broken pieces, welded together again. Made stronger. More resilient.”

REVIEW - Michael (Bachelors of the Ridge #4) - Karla Sorensen

TITLE - Michael (Bachelors of the Ridge #4)

AUTHOR - Karla Sorensen

Releases 26th July

BLURB:

Brooke Rossi knows how stay in control.

After all, finding herself a single mother to twins after her ‘allergic to responsibility’ ex-boyfriend left town has kinda set the bar for whatever might come her way. Except the day-to-day realities of single motherhood has her juggling in a way that she couldn’t anticipate, which is why she's one sleepless night away from a padded cell.

Her unexpected help comes in the form of Michael Whitfield, unrepentant flirt and alleged manwhore. Michael isn’t allergic to responsibility, but he does have a healthy aversion to commitment, until his relationship with Brooke. Their friendship is easy, until it’s not. They learn to walk a tight rope of restraint, choosing not to act on their attraction out of respect for the friendship they’ve built.

One scorching, clothes-free visit past the boundaries they put in place, and Brooke finds herself facing the most uncontrollable situation of all: risking her heart to a man who’s never had to take care of one before.

REVIEW:

“Assumed playboy meets his match, 5 stars”

STOP, SCROLL BACK UP AND ONE-CLICK!

You know that saying about assuming things? That is totally relevant when it comes to Michael. Everyone assumes he’s a playboy because he flirts with women constantly. But everyone couldn’t be further from the truth, just because he flirts doesn’t mean he hooks up. Michael takes his job as the light hearted friend seriously, he doesn’t care to correct people’s assumptions of him because what’s the point? Until he finally gets to know Brooke, then everything changes. He wants to be the kind of man not only she, but her kids deserve.

Brooke is a single mom raising twins on her own. If you’ve read Cole, you know her as Julia’s sister as well. She is the definition of a feisty Italian woman, I absolutely adored her and her attempt to take on the world on her own. When Michael randomly steps in to help with the kids one day neither of them had a clue it would lead to more. To Michael helping with a project then leading from one area of her life to another.

Brooke and Michael fall into an easy love to begin with, but their lack of communication gets the best of them. When Brooke’s ex tries to step in its hard on Michael, because once upon a time he was Brooke’s kids. He was raised by a single mother with an absentee father so it brings back a lot of memories. Can Brooke let down her guard and let Michael in? Will Michael step up to the plate and stay in the game?

When Karla told me, Michael was going to be with a single mom I thought okay, we shall see. But holy guacamole! I absolutely loved everything about Michael. You have these two independently strong characters who only become stronger together. You get to see a whole different side of Michael, everyone assumes he’s a player but really at the heart of it he’s a family man.
I giggled so much to myself my husband started to get annoyed because he didn’t know what I was laughing at.

I marked the crap out of this story, here are a couple pieces that I can’t help but share with you;

“Brooke was my ideal woman. The prototype. The kind you search for in vain.”

“Snarky and feisty, with a dry humor that made me laugh easily, Brooke didn’t remind me of any other woman I’d ever met. And I liked that about her.”

“I’m about to break that no shirt rule. And so are you. We’re going to break it so hard.”

“Sometimes it means you stand silently next to her until she needs you to step in and fight with her. Not fight in place of her, you’re fighting by her side.”

“Rule number seven. I am always going to be there for you, in any capacity that you’ll allow me. See also - Wine-bringer, hug-giver, kiss-recipient, willing sex slave and partner in life.”

REVIEW - Up to Bat - Maggie Jane Schuler

TITLE - Up to Bat
AUTHOR - Maggie Jane Schuler

BLURB:

Samantha Sawyer, a busy college junior, is thrown a curveball when she's asked to mentor Adriana, a shy freshman with secrets and mysteries.

Unfortunately, these secrets lead Sam into a dangerous game she’s not sure she can win. Her salvation comes packaged in the tall, sexy, and self-assured Blake Angel. Can he save her, or is he really the devil in disguise?

REVIEW:

Up to Bat was not what I was expecting.  I actually liked the book, even though my first impressions were different than what the book actually was. This is a romantic suspense that ends in a cliffhanger. The book is worth a read as it is thrilling, but some minor improvements could make it a 5 star read.

The plot of the book is vague when reading the blurb. The name of the book leads to the assumption that the book will be about baseball. Baseball is a minor part of the story, but not enough to satisfy my desire for the book to feature baseball more. With that being said, the actual plot was interesting. It drew me in and had me wanting to know what happens next. Even the cliffhanger was written well.

The characters were written pretty well. Blake is an interesting character. I like his personality and fierceness. Sam was a pretty good character as well, but I felt at times she was careless. It is hard to say much more without giving away major plot points, but let’s just say, some of the things that occur could have been avoided by just being more observant and cautious.

There is chemistry between these characters and I feel it is really the main focus of the story. I don’t usually mind this in books, but I felt the main focus should have been on the plot more. These characters are good together though so I like the heat that did come with that. I think reading more about these two will be fun in future books.

The style of the book is where I find the most issues. There was quite a bit of time jumping going around, which isn’t bad per say, but I felt it was distracting. I also felt the story was not as authentic as it could be. There were certain situations that I thought were out of the norm for what would happen in real life. I can’t say exactly what that is without giving away the story, but let’s just say I think Blake did not handle things as well as I would expect someone in his position. I usually don’t mention things like the cover because it does not really effect my personal thoughts of a book, but I will say I also feel the cover misrepresents the story.

Overall, I actually really enjoyed this book, even with the minor issues. I cannot wait to find out what kind of trouble Sam gets herself into in the next book. I would recommend this book to others, especially friends who like romantic suspense books. Wonderful story!

It’s going to be a long, hot summer.

REVIEW:

Bullets & Bonfires is just what I needed! This book had everything I look for in a book. A strong female lead, a sexy alpha male, humour, and lots and lots of action. This book was a page turning for me. Just thinking about this book makes me want to go back and reread it over and over again!

I really liked what this book was about. The title jumped out at me which made me want to read it. I love bonfires and I love my guns. I thought this book is perfect for me. Boy was I right. This plot starts off with Liam, a sheriff’s officer stopping a speeding motorist only to find it is Brianna, his best friends younger sister. She has unexpectedly moved home and he is now tasked with looking after her. What he doesn’t know is Brianna is hiding some secrets that she thinks are buried, but as with most secrets, they don’t always stay that way.

The characters in this book are very realistic. Liam is a wonderful male character. He is what an alpha male should be. He is strong and protective, but not overbearing and borderline abusive. I loved this about his character. I also loved how he tries to take a higher moral ground on things. I think this is important in a hero. Brianna is an amazing character as well. While she does not believe so, she is a strong person. She has lived through a terrible situation and is just now trying to rebuild her life. I think she is a good character for women to look up to.

The heat in this book is scorching. These characters have a history, and not all good. They both fight their attraction towards one another for their own reasons, but you can tell it is hard for each of them. Once they finally succumb, it is like fireworks on the 4th of July. If you like a lot of heat in your books, then this is the book for you.

The writing style is done very well. I love how there is use of flashbacks to show events that happened before this timeline. I also love the dual point of view so we can see both characters versions of the story. I think this adds a layer the story needed to truly be amazing. I also just really enjoy the way the author writes. It is easy and clear to understand what the author is trying to convey.

Overall, how can you not love a story about hot males, fire, and guns? This book was truly magnificent and I am so glad I was able to read it. I loved the characters and the story. I would like to see where these characters land a few years down the road. I like knowing what happens to the characters after the story ends.

REVIEW - Unexpected Love - Evan Grace

TITLE - Unexpected Love (Love Stings #4)
AUTHOR - Evan Grace

BLURB:

It was supposed to be a one-time thing. Just one night. No attachments, no strings, and no expectations. Little did Chloe know it would change her life forever.

In hindsight, that night with Joe never should have happened. But it did.
He was one mistake she never should have made. But she did.

Now Chloe is in way too deep, stuck in a very complicated situation which seems impossible to get out of.

Too bad she can’t change the past. If she could do it all over again, she wouldn’t be so reckless, so weak. She wouldn’t succumb to temptation so easily…

Or would she?

REVIEW:

“Heartache and love, 5 stars”

Unexpected Love is the fourth book in the series, you’ve already met this stories couple before they were together. Going into this story I already liked Joe and Chloe but I didn’t know if I would like them together, but once again Grace shocked me and proved they were right for each other. Both Joe and Chloe are fun easy-going people but they experience heartache.

*SPOILER*So here is my warning label: if you can’t handle miscarriages, I don’t recommend this story. If it’s hard but you are willing to take a chance, please do so. Unexpected Love is a fantastic story that may help one heal or help one understand.*SPOILER*

Chloe hasn’t been with anyone for quite some time. The last guy may have taken a kick at her self- esteem. When she has the opportunity to sleep with Joe she takes it. Only problem is she’s seven years his senior, how could a one-night stand turn into something more when she’s so much older?

Joe is living his life like most twenty-four-year-old guys, he’s having fun. Once he hooks up with Chloe though she’s the only one he can think about. When Chloe shows up at his door telling him she’s pregnant, Joe is equal parts excited and terrified. When Chloe loses the baby both hurt, but at the same time it pulls them closer together.

Joe and Chloe have an uphill battle to fight to make it together. Unexpected Love is equal parts light and serious. You get a little bit of previous characters you might have fallen for and learn more about ones you hardly know. I love Chloe’s brother and can’t wait for his story. Take a journey with Joe and Chloe and unexpectedly fall in love.
